Obituary
George Henry - 1928-2024
It is with deeply broken hearts that the family of George Stanley Henry announce his passing at Marshall Gowland Manor surrounded by loving family on Thursday May 30, 2024.
Beloved husband for 33 years of Elena Henry. Predeceased by his first wife Winnie. Loving Father of Susan Egan (Bob), George Henry (Brenda) and Mark Henry (Leane) and Step-father of Caroline Temple and Tom Temple. Cherished Papa to 14 grand children and 26 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
George is survived by his sister Shirley McFarlane (Bill), predeceased by his parents William & Eva Henry and siblings Harold and Myrtle.
George held many different jobs in his 96 years! He grew up on the family farm in the city of Toronto. He worked the fields with his brother, spent summers working at his Uncle’s lumber camp in North Bay. After marrying Winnie and starting his family George was a Toronto Police Officer for a short while. He changed careers and sold life insurance for Prudential Insurance Co. for many years. He was a devoted caregiver for Winnie after she was stricken with early onset Alzheimer’s disease.
After Winnie’s passing George took a job with Sears as a Security Guard in downtown Toronto. He met his wife Elena and they moved to Belleville to continue to work for Sears at the new Distribution Center. George became the “face of Sears” to many of the employees and visitors as he manned the front security desk. He retired from his role at the age of 75. In retirement George & Elena moved to Sarnia in 2019 to be closer to family.
We wish to offer our warm and sincere thanks to the staff on the Ivy unit at the Manor for the loving care given to George over these past 3 years. We will be eternally grateful. For those who wish, in memoriam donations made to the Marshall Gowland Manor Auxiliary (https://www.lambtoncares.ca/donate/support-us/) or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in "George's Guestbook “at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. A celebration of George's life will be held at a later time.

Elena, Sue and families, I was so sad to hear of George’s passing. He was a bright light when I was at work and always made my days better. I will certainly miss him and all of you. You’re in my thoughts and prayers and I hope we meet again. RIP Mr. Henry. Your smiling face and chipper attitude will be sorely missed at MGM.

After knowing George for 56 years we can’t but fell a loss and condolences for his family. We do however have fond memories that will stay with us. Also (Bob) having worked with him, knows just how his sense of humour carried the day. RIP George.
