Obituary

CANIE, Bruce - age 61, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Bluewater Health on Thursday May 12, 2022. Survived by his children Lauren (Andrew) Malpass, Kelly (Sara), Corby and their mother Cindy (Waring) Canie. Brother to Janice (Blair) Oakford, Gary (Pat VanReenan) and Rick Canie. Predeceased by his parents Richard (2005) and Rita (2016). Will be especially missed by his nephew Jeff Walkosky. Thank you to Oscar McCabe and Claude LaChapelle for their loyal friendship and support over the years. Born and raised in Sarnia, Bruce attended Landsdowne Public School and St. Clair Secondary School. He was a long time employee of Polysar/Lanxess. Bruce was an avid football fan, always reliving his glory days as an all-star running back for the St. Clair Colts and faithfully cheering for the Detroit Lions (but happily watching any football game available to him). The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU and Telemetry teams at Bluewater Health. Arrangements have been entrusted to McCormack Funeral Home. At Bruce's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. A small celebration will be held for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in ‘Bruce’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com.

Condolences

I had the pleasure of teaching Bruce Gr. 10 History at St. Clair in my first year of teaching. I remember his stellar plays on the football field. My sympathy is extended to BJ's family.
