Obituary
Busby, Lila “Marty” Marlaine.
On Thursday November 10, 2022, Marty passed at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, at the age of 75. Marty was a devoted sister to her brothers Ray and Leonard, and an adoring aunt to her nieces and nephews: William (Tracy) and wife Cindy Busby, Lisa and husband Steve, Christopher and wife Cecilia Mei, Tyler and wife Mei, Sarah and husband Jeremy McEachen, Rodney and partner Kenney Fitzpatrick, Megan, Noah, Grace and Gabriel. Marty was also an involved and doting great-aunt to Jacob, Eric and Brady Busby-McEachen, Chloe and Kaylee Busby, and Sophia and Luca Pepe, who had the fortune of living near their great-aunt before the decline of her health. Other great nieces and nephews in Alberta, Toronto and New York will mourn the lose of her visits and correspondence. Marty was predeceased by her loving parents Vernon Busby and Betty Busby (nee Redshaw), her elder sister Brenda Mei (nee Busby) and her husband Bob, her sister-in-law Donna Busby, and her nieces Jennifer Mei and Magnolia Busby. May they welcome her with open arms in Heaven. Marty was a life-long active member of the Central Baptist Church of London Road Sarnia, where she served on many committees to advance their good work and performed in their choir. She had many loyal and wonderful friendships formed there, not the least of which with the Boushys, the Beattys and the Ganders. Marty was very social, an active member of the Beta-Phi-Sigma sorority and many volunteer organizations over the years that facilitated her giving spirit. Marty worked at Murphy’s Distributing until their closure then worked with OLG Casinos & Slots in Sarnia where she retired from. Marty formed many close relationships with her colleagues, not the least of which with Queena Shanks, her supervisor at Murphy’s for many years. Perhaps outside of family, her closest lifelong friendship with Carol, who was exactly her complement in this world. Marty was an animal lover, supporter and past dog-walker for the Sarnia Humane Society. She was a Royal Enthusiast and consummate traveler. As a younger lady Marty traveled frequently to Ireland and England to explore her cultural roots and to Hawaii for R&R. Later as a retiree she fulfilled her lifelong goal of spending months in Paris, France on the Champs-Élysées. Family and friends will be received at the McCormack Funeral Home, 254 George Street (at the corner of College Avenue) Sarnia for visitation on Monday November 21 starting at 12 noon. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 pm. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Marty’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com.
