Obituary

Armstrong, Thomas Raymond

Thomas Raymond Armstrong, age 84 of Sarnia, passed away suddenly on January 24, 2022, at his home. Tom will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bertha Mae Armstrong, nee Leslie. Father of Rick Armstrong (Lori) and Shelley Yule. Grandfather of Blake Armstrong (Nicole) and Nicole Walko (Tory). Great grandfather to Diego, Meadow and Neveah. Predeceased by his parents John and Hilda Armstrong, and brothers Neil, Cap, Bob, and Ken. Tom was born in Inwood, ON, and then joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He spent five years traveling all over Europe and to Bermuda multiple times on Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship La Hulloise and Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship Lanark, which is likely where his grandchildren got the idea of him being a pirate! In their prime Tom and Bert shared many cherished memories with their motorcycle friends Betty and the late Don Small. They also loved to host parties in their basement bar with the Briarfield Avenue gang! Tom was quite the handyman and always kept busy with different projects in his garage. One of his greatest creations was a hanging TV stand on his back patio where you could always find him watching the Blue Jays and sipping on a cold Lakeport Light on a summer day. Cremation has taken place and Tom’s remains will be interred at Lakeview Cemetery at a future date. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Tom’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
