Co-ordination of Activities, Rites and Ceremonies
For co-ordination of Funeral Arrangements, we offer the services of a licensed funeral director to consult with family members regarding their personal choices and options available for funeral, memorial or direct disposition arrangements. This may include the coordinating of the initial transfer from the place of death, obtaining vital statistics, scheduling with clergy, musicians, cemetery and / or crematorium, reception facilitator, coroner and other necessary contacts, preparing and placing death notices. The overseeing of all other staff functions necessary to implement the arrangements such as clerical and accounting support, 24 hour phone answering, receptionists, parking lot attendants and custodial staff. Also this allows for McCormack's bereavement support programs and Family After Service Care consultation.
Initial Transfer
We will transfer from the place of death (Hospital, Residence, Nursing Home or Hospice) to McCormack Funeral Home, within a 20 km radius of the funeral home. This service is available on a 24 hour basis and includes our Funeral Coach, staff, mortuary equipment and sundries. Additional mileage charges beyond the 20 km radius may apply at $1.90 per km, one way.
Documentation
Completion and filing of all documents necessary to carry out the services and supplies requested, including, but not limited to, death registration, burial permit, coroner's certificate for cremation, documentation necessary to ship the body out of the country and the provision of Proof of Death Certificates issued by McCormack Funeral Home - Stewart Chapel. Disclaimer - our Proof of Death Certificates are usually accepted for most estate settlement purposes, but sometimes a provincial "Certified Death Certificate" will be necessary and is available from the Office of the Registrar General. Application completion if required can be done at no additional charge. Information pertaining to the arrangements is maintained on file at McCormack Funeral Home - Stewart Chapel, available for future reference.
Basic Preparation
(Requires Facilities for Preparation and Sheltering of Remains)
Basic preparation may include but not limited to the visual inspection of the body, disinfection and bathing of the remains, positioning of the facial features, dressing as required and placement in a casket or cremation container for indentification or viewing.
Removal of pacemaker as required No Charge.
Facilities for Preparation and Sheltering of Remains
A designated area is provided for sheltering of the remains until the visitation, funeral service or transfer to the crematorium or cemetery.
NOTE TO READER - No additional charges (per diem charges) are applied for delays over 24 hours pending the time of visitation or disposition.
Professional Preparation - “Embalming”
(Requires Basic Preparation and Facilities for Preparation and Sheltering of Remains) Embalming is the process of replacing blood and bodily fluids with chemical preservatives. lt is a process of sanitation, restoration and temporary preservation. Embalming is not legally required, but maybe recommended to preserve the body between the time of death and the visitation, identification viewing or disposition of the deceased. McCormack Funeral Home - Stewart Chapel funeral directors will make a recommendation based on the condition of the body and expected service needs. NOTE TO READER – There are never any additional charges for application of restorative art techniques if required or requested.
Staffing for Visitation
Staff to coordinate and oversee the visitation, as a traditional visitation with casket present or for a memorial visitation no casket present) for a period of one hour per number of hours selected.
NOTE TO READER - Staffing for Visitation are charged for hours that are publicly announced. The family may arrive up to one hour ahead of public visitation to acclimatize themselves before receiving guests, at no additional charge.
Facilities for Visitation
(Requires Staffing for Visitation) Designated facilities used for visitation for a period of one hour per number of hours selected. Staffing for Ceremony
Staff to coordinate and oversee the ceremony or memorial service either at McCormack Funeral Home or a church or venue or your choice for up to 4 hours.
Facilities for Ceremony or Set Up Offsite
(Requires Staff Services for Ceremony)
Designated facilities and equipment used for the ceremony or memorial service for up to 3 hours when located at McCormack Funeral Home. Also the provision of necessary equipment to provide services when at a church or venue offsite for a period of up to 3 hours
Funeral Coach
The use of this specialized vehicle is for the transportation of the casket or cremation container from McCormack Funeral Home or church as required following through to the cemetery and / or crematorium. Rental of the funeral coach is for a three hour period and within a 20 km radius of McCormack Funeral Home.
Lead Vehicle
The use of this 5 passenger vehicle to lead services from McCormack Funeral Home or church as required and following through to the cemetery and / or crematorium. The Clergy Vehicle may also be used for the pickup of clergy separately for prayers and / or committal services.
Utility Vehicle
This is a general use vehicle for items such as floral delivery, registration and clerical errands pertaining to the funeral.
